Demand cycle lanes in Manchester

Manchester City Council is refusing to install pop-up cycle lanes in Manchester in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, despite all the other Councils in Greater Manchester doing exactly that.

As our city adapts to the ongoing pandemic, we want to ensure that people can travel to and from work safely, and reduce car usage. But we also want to provide an alternative to public transport which some may feel uncomfortable using in the short-term.

Manchester City Council must realise this mistake and install pop-up cycle lanes without delay.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to change commuter behaviour. Pop-up cycle lanes are the foundation of long-term cycling infrastructure, not a threat to it.
