On Sunday I went to the Summer Solstice picnic on Chorlton Meadows with Chorlton Cllrs Paul Ankers and Victor Chamberlain as well as Chorlton Park Cllrs Norman Lewis and Bernie Ryan.
The Save the Chorlton Meadows did brilliantly and organised a number of protest events to protect itself from proposed development. The Meadows has continued to flourish with the guidance from the Save Chorlton Meadows team and they regularly hold successful events celebrating the great open space we have in Chorlton.
Can I say a thank you to photographer Rachael Magowan see www.rachaelmagowan.com who took some great photos at the event.
West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC have now submitted another application to the City Council – to erect SIX 15m (49ft) FLOODLIGHTS – this time on the site of their current football pitch by Brookburn Road. There is real concern about the impact this will have on local residents, particularly with the lights on until 10pm.
If you would like to object to the application the deadline is July 8th and objections can be sent to Dave Morris, Manchester City Council. If you would like to object you can send it to Dave Morris, Manchester City Council Planning, PO Box 463, Town Hall, Manchester M60 3NY
